High Holy Days 5781

Project Overview:

Global migrated Lab/Shul's historically in-person High Holy Days worship services online by producing a high-quality livestream and delivering it to a worldwide audience through a customized virtual events platform. By combining a high-quality livestream production with a flexible and feature-rich virtual events platform, Global was able to create an authentic community experience for Lab/Shul's online audience during a time when in-person communal gatherings were impossible.

Lab/Shul had participants joining and participating from all over the world. We had virtual tech support personnel ensuring that all the remote guests were online and ready to be seen and heard by the viewing audience when it was their time to shine.

Conclusion

Recreating live, in-person events online is always challenging and making room for plenty of advance planning is critical for a successful outcome. Global and Lab/Shul began working on the High Holidays production in June. The platform launched publically in August, and the High Holy Days worshp services were livestreamed in mid-September.

Lab/Shul historically welcomed around 1500-2000 people at their past in-person High Holy Days worship services. Attendance of this year's virtual services exceeded 4,000 people from all over the globe. As the world emerges from Covid lockdowns, it seems plausible to think that in-person events of the future would do well to offer an online or second-screen component as well.
